5 USEFUL BENEFITS OF READING BOOKS

Learning is the biggest challenge yet the greatest aspect of life.

You may ask, Jayashree How can I do this?

My answer

Books

Reading books is one of the easiest, cheapest and most relaxing hobby. No two people will have the exact same opinion of a book that touched their lives in many different ways.
Let me share some of my experiences with this hobby and how it started.
Reading books came to me naturally from childhood. My journey of reading books started with storybooks when I was young around age 6. I always like to relate myself to the character in the story in my head and captivate in my imagination. As the priority in life changed my taste developed based on requirement. I love to read books on different areas like psychology, Finance, Positive Parenting, Self-improvement, Management(time, money, people), technology, Mindfulness, health, and fitness.
I still remember the days of my childhood going to book store, book fair, and libraries with my father and spending lots of time looking at different books. With the increased amount of technology in Today's world we can also read books online(laptop, mobile), audiobooks, kindle, Goodreads. I always make sure to read every day for at least 30 minutes in the morning while I travel to work. This is one of the best habits that we can model for our kids. It makes me so much happy to see my daughter's love for books.

I am not telling all these only based on my experience.
Microsoft co-founder Bil Gates and the world's most successful investor Warren Buffett are two great examples of successful people who have this amazing habit.
I read somewhere that the CEO of a company reads around 60 books a year.

It is becoming clear that  We are going to be confined to our homes for a while because of the spread of the coronavirus. So, why not make good use of the time?
Below  I will be explaining 5 incredible  benefits of reading books

1.Improves focus and concentration

According to one study, mental stimulation like reading can protect memory and thinking skills especially as you age. That even tells reading every day can slow down late-life cognitive decline.
This proves that reading can help people live longer. Like we train the muscle of our body we need to do exercises to strengthen the muscle of our brain. Reading is the best form of exercise for the brain for better memory and attention. Instead of spending much time on mobile and tv and laptop which shortens attention span we can choose to read a book for learning something new.

2.Increase vocabulary

As you read different books you are being exposed to new vocabulary, which you might not use on a daily basis. Having a large vocabulary will help you understand the world around you better. Being articulate and well-spoken is a great help in any profession and will boost your confidence to a higher level.

3.Boosts your mood

Did you ever notice how stress related to work, personal life, or any other issues faced in daily life disappears when you lose yourself in a good book? When you want to destress grab a book and let your mind forget about the problem for a while.

4.Strengthen your writing skills

Whether you write for work or just for fun reding can improve your writing skills. The more you read the better your writing skills will be. Reading a book on a regular basis can improve your literacy skills and make you a better writer. Observing the writing style and fluidity of other authors will influence your own work.

5.Health benefits

Studies show that if you limit your screen time and read your book before bed, it will help you to relax and destress and can drag yourself in deep and peaceful sleep.

While you have a spare afternoon or those few hours before going to bed, step away from your mobile, laptop for a little while and crack open a book and recharge your soul for a while.
